LIFE UPDATE

Hello everyone!

Look at me, making a big deal about having TFJ back and then hardly ever posting. Typical.

Firstly, I’ve found myself in London again, and the lead up to this trip has been a hectic one. The whole month of December was basically dedicated to working as often as possible so that I could afford to survive on this trip. The notion that all bloggers are super rich and get things for free and travel for campaigns is literally only applicable to about 15% of bloggers, and that hurts.

Regardless, a lot has happened in a short span of time. We celebrated Christmas, new year, and my 21st birthday all within a two week period. Yes, you read that right, my 21ST BLOODY BIRTHDAY. I’ve been blogging since I was 16 and now, here I am at 21 years old, still as passionate about TFJ as I was back then. The only real difference is that I had a lot more time to focus on the blog when all I had to worry about was homework.

Tomorrow I’ll be taking a quick trip to Paris which I am super excited for. This time around I’m hoping to visit the palace of Versailles and go to the top of the Arc Di Triomphe. I’ll be travelling with my dad for the first time and I’m really looking forward to finally experiencing that kind of thing with family.

As for everything else, I will try my best to keep you all posted. I’m going to use this trip as motivation to bring you all some great new content both on the blog and over at my YouTube channel, so get ready for some travel happy snaps, story times, and OOTDs.

Much love,

xx

I know, I have an obsession with midi skirts and killer handbags.
I’m not going to apologise though, because you’ll be thanking me later.
Lately all of my edits have included items that are on my wishlist, and I finally got around to buying a Khaki midi skirt, yay!
I’m also torn between the Furla Metropolis Mini hip bag and this Alexander Wang bag, I think the Furla is the more affordable option though, so that solves that issue.
Finally, I need a pair of knee high boots! I am literally searching high and low for the perfect pair (at the perfect price) and let me tell you, with my taste it is not an easy task!

If you guys have found an affordable pair of knee high boots, let me know!

Also, which bag do you guys prefer? The Furla or the Alexander Wang?

Sportsluxe & culottes

I finally got around to buying a pair of culottes!

Like most things that I try to photograph, I couldn’t capture how great they actually look.I know, I’m barking up my own tree but honestly I don’t care, it’s too good not to share!

I’ve also styled the culottes with a white turtleneck shirt, which looksgreat as well. I’ve tried (and failed) to do a ‘view from the top’ photo with the white shirt as well, just to show how versatile the culottes actually are!

(Excuse the quality, I was in the David Jones reserve right before I got changed into my work uniform)

Here I’ve used metallic leather VANS, but like in my first culottes post, they can be easily styled with any type of shoe, and personally I prefer them with pointed boots just because it gives the look a more polished feel.

Culottes: Sportsgirl

Ribbed turtle neck: ASOS

Coat: Bardot (no longer available)

Shoes: VANS (these are the ‘Glitter’ style in silver, but the style has now been changed from metallic leather to sequins)

PS: sorry for being ridiculously un-photogenic!

So simple but so chic

I just want to see the world

I just want to get away

I have a serious case of wanderlust and it’s not going away!

Knowing that Coachella is happening and i’m not there is making it worse, and so is watching any TV show that’s based in New York. Let’s not even get me started on my desperate need to go to London.

I just really want to travel the world and feel those emotions that I felt when I was away exactly two years ago. It’s been two years too long.

Due to my wanderlust I created this edit. It’s just one of those “if I were getting on a plane right now what would I wear?” edits. Yes, I would wear jeans, I could sleep in jeans if I wanted to.

Here’s to staying in school and the thought of dancing at Coachella.

No longer are we the sans culottes

I know, I couldn’t help the french revolution reference to the Sans Culottes.

I’ve been seeing culottes around for a long time but for some reason the idea didn’t hit me until I was in Sportsgirl the other day and saw a pair. I didn’t have time to try them on, but I couldn’t stop thinking about them. Coincidentally, I then got a voucher for Sportsgirl, so maybe it’s a sign?

Either way I thought I should try and style them, and I came up with these two options, one for summer, one for winter. The colour of the culottes is so versatile and chic (maybe even more so than black) and I figure that, as they are a statement piece, they should be a colour other than black.

I think the best way to wear culottes is by teaming them with a fitted top, and if need be, an oversized, yet structured coat. I think that although culottes in themselves are a statement, but I think that you definitely need to accessorise, because it will pull the whole look together. The shape and location of the culottes need something to tie the whole look together and flatter your shape. Simple things like a crop top and a long necklace paired with culottes gives the outfit dimension, which I believe is needed with culottes.

I’ve also seen culottes worn with an oversized neoprene top, but I think that the structure of the top must compliment the culottes because without some sort of shape, I think it would look horrible. Culottes

Topshop Topman Student Lates

Don’t ask why it’s called “Student Lates”, because I’m not entirely sure… However I did have a good time at this Topshop event in Melbourne’s Emporium Topshop Topman store. Seriously, who would say no to 20% off everything, free popcorn and free drinks? Not me!

I’ve had my eye on Topshop’s capes for a really long time, and I tried them on a while ago, but couldn’t justify spending $78 on something that reminded me of a blanket. Technically, I liked the idea of wearing something that seemed like a blanket, especially since I was going to be at university and thought that it would be cool to sit in a cold lecture theatre with something that resembled a blanket but was acceptable to actually wear out in public.

I also tried on a pair of their black Joni jeans and I actually liked them! Every pair of jeans I have, and will ever own from Topshop are Jamie’s and I swear by them, but I think these will be my next jean purchase, they’re so comfortable and they don’t feel like jeans at all!

In the end, however, I did decide to get the black and white cape, and I can’t wait until Melbourne delivers a nice, cold autumn day and I can wear it without looking like an idiot.

Black, White and Leather

On Friday night I was sponsor to my cousin for her confirmation. With great honour comes great responsibility, and so I needed to look the part of a mature, responsible young adult.

I had never been stuck for ideas for an outfit, nor had I been on a strict budget that would limit me from my original ideas for an outfit, so I had to pull my resources and hit up my local shopping centre, forcing me to rediscover and forage for pieces that would help me to achieve my aim of looking fashionable, mature and dependable.

I was pleasantly surprised when I bought two very simple pieces that, when combined, gave me not only an elegant, sophisticated look, but a slimming and flattering effect.

It started with a Black and White polka dot cami from Bardot. Then I went into Sportsgirl and found a mid length leatherette skirt. These two items made me feel like I had revolutionised my wardrobe.

photo (3)

Both items were so versatile that not only did they work wonders when put together, but individually I found I can wear the skirt with knitted jumpers, singlets and jackets of all colours. The cami could be dressed up or down with jeans, leggings and even mini skirts.

With it I wore black wedges, silver jewellery and a black clutch with silver sparkles, which all complimented each other piece really well.

Over all, the main message to this is that versatility and giving clothes prospect can lead you to new possibilities not only within your wardrobe, but can help you to look and feel fantastic!
