2016 was a strange year, but it was undeniably lit.

Where do I even begin to describe 2015?
2015 was the year that I met amazing people and made friends I know will be around for a long time.
2015 was the year that I worked my ass off and reached my goals.
2015 was the year that I got a taste of the real world and thrived from it.
Like I mentioned in my MAC Cream Colour Base review, I am obsessed with products that I can use multiple ways.
Rightfully named, the NARS Le Multiple makeup stick is possibly the coolest product i’ve purchased. It comes in 10 different colours, and I bought the shade Na Pali Coast, which is a beautiful copper colour with a shimmer. The best thing about it is that it’s intended that you use it on your lips, cheeks and eyes, even simultaneously.
The consistency of the product itself is a cream to powder formula, so when you apply, it blends really easily but still has the pigmentation and durability of a cream.
I use Na Pali Coast as a bronzer more than anything because I find the shade works really well in creating dimensions in my face under my cheekbone to contour, but also doubles as a blush if I build it up. That was actually what persuaded me to buy it, because I was looking at the shade Orgasm, which is gorgeous, but I already have the powder blush, and wanted something slightly more versatile.
I’ve used it on my eyes as well, and it’s really pretty, but I think it’s more suited to someone with brown or darker eyes, because my hazel eyes were too light for it. I also feel like it’s a colour that looks awesome with a dark crimson lip, which I did, but my skin is also a bit too pale for both products together.
With that being said though, I think Na Pali Coast is a great colour for anyone. It’s so unique and the contrast of the silver shimmer with the copper really doesn’t tailor it to a certain person.
Overall, I’ve got nothing but praises for this product, and would love to try out some of the other colours in NARS’ The Multiple range.
If there’s one Australian brand that I absolutely love, it’s Witchery, and every single winter they manage to release the best jackets and coats. This season in particular includes the most versatile colours and styles that I can guarantee will be investment pieces that you can wear for years to come.
You can shop the Witchery outerwear in the links below!
1. The over-part: Here we’re taking inspiration from the comb over, but this is much, much cooler. The trick is to part your hair on the opposite side to it’s natural part, therefore giving it a natural lift. Then, when I do this style I tease the fringe part so it has volume and doesn’t just fall lifeless in front of my face. Some people may need to get the hair dryer out and tease it with heat, otherwise the hair will fall back into it’s natural place.
You will need:
– Rats tail comb
– Strong hold hair spray
– Hair dryer
2. The half up top knot: I use this style when I’m running low on time and can’t straighten my hair properly, so I separate the top from the bottom, put the top in a knot, then straighten the bottom. It saves time and looks really boho-chic.
You will need:
– A hair tie
– Hair pins
3. The low-bun: Tying your hair up when your hair is short can be a nightmare, especially when you’re used to tying longer hair in a high pony or a trusty top knot. This low-bun not only is much easier, but also looks really elegant, but is adaptable to any style. I wore my hair like this with a simple crop top and a high waisted midi skirt, which looked really sophisticated, but then I’ve also done my hair like this when I wore a camel coloured turtle-neck knit and jeans, which was really casual and comfortable, which was a nice contrast to my hair.
You will need:
– A thin hair tie
– Hair pins (lots of them)
– Rats tail comb
– A really good contour
4. The wavy middle part: I personally have a lot of difficulty getting my hair to look wavy; it’s either straight or curly. But I think this look can be pulled off with a bit more effort than the other styles.
You will need:
– Rats tail comb (to part your hair down the middle)
– Hair spray
– Hair straightener (or curler without the clamp)
These looks are super easy to replicate and can easily give extra personality to even the simplest outfit.
Don’t ask why it’s called “Student Lates”, because I’m not entirely sure… However I did have a good time at this Topshop event in Melbourne’s Emporium Topshop Topman store. Seriously, who would say no to 20% off everything, free popcorn and free drinks? Not me!
I’ve had my eye on Topshop’s capes for a really long time, and I tried them on a while ago, but couldn’t justify spending $78 on something that reminded me of a blanket. Technically, I liked the idea of wearing something that seemed like a blanket, especially since I was going to be at university and thought that it would be cool to sit in a cold lecture theatre with something that resembled a blanket but was acceptable to actually wear out in public.
I also tried on a pair of their black Joni jeans and I actually liked them! Every pair of jeans I have, and will ever own from Topshop are Jamie’s and I swear by them, but I think these will be my next jean purchase, they’re so comfortable and they don’t feel like jeans at all!
In the end, however, I did decide to get the black and white cape, and I can’t wait until Melbourne delivers a nice, cold autumn day and I can wear it without looking like an idiot.
Why complain about the summer heat when you can face it with style?
It’s a known fact that a good base provides the foundation for a good makeup day (no pun intended) and sometimes having a good base requires a lot of time and effort to ensure that coverage is smooth and flattering.
It’s no secret that my skin isn’t the easiest surface to cover, not only do I have way too many acne scars, but because of the stress i’ve been under this year, I also have my fair share of unwelcome blemishes. So, along with the redness and the new oil that has developed in my T-Zone (which never existed until 3 months ago) I have had many difficulties finding a decently priced foundation and concealer that would actually work.
For a few months I was using the Rimmel London ‘Wake Me Up‘ foundation and concealer, and although it was a great product, lately I felt that “good enough” just wasn’t good enough. Once that ran out I switched to the Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation, which is really good, the coverage is great and the consistency is comfortable but also reliable. A few days after purchasing this, however, I was given the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin foundation and concealer. Since hearing about it’s release, I was very interested in trying it, but never got around to buying it, so when the opportunity to review the product came about, I jumped at it straight away!
Firstly, once I got past the excitement of receiving these products, I unwrapped the package as if I were a five year old and was unwrapping the biggest christmas present ever. Looking at the two bottles filled me up with pride – I was finally seeing physical results of blogging! (or as I like to call them – “Blogger Perks”)
Then, once the excitement subsided and I showed the unopened products to everyone on my Snapchat list, I ventured off to try the products!
The foundation at first seemed like it had a very thin consistency, which worried me because I thought “great, imagine how quickly i’m going to get through this!” because one pump didn’t seem enough to cover my face. Before adding a second pump, I thought I should see how much product comes out with one pump. It was actually the perfect amount! Then the second thing that crossed my mind was “Okay, so if the consistency is so thin, but the amount was good, should I use a second pump to make sure that I have a good coverage?”. The answer was no! The SuperStay Better Skin foundation gave me an even coverage that hid a lot of my scars… and this was without concealer!
Then I added the concealer on top of my scars and blemishes (mostly on my cheeks) and found that the scars disappeared and the redness no longer existed! It seemed almost too good to be true! Then I thought “okay so if it’s covering this well, I don’t think it will last in the heat this coming summer” especially considering how thin the consistency really was. Lucky for me, Melbourne weather pulled through to give me a beautiful 29 degree day, perfect product testing weather!
Here is just some background info about the SuperStay Better Skin products:
Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin is Maybelline’s first vitamin enriched long wear foundation with skin improving Actyl-C. It provides all-day coverage and even has SPF 14!
So to break that down, it’s a bottle full of facial goodness that not only covers imperfections, but helps to improve them, while protecting your skin from the harsh UV rays that you may encounter!
May I just say that after almost 5 days of using the SuperStay Better Skin products, I am not disappointed! For the price, this product is fantastic! The only (somewhat) negative comment I can make about this product is that sometimes I accidentally dispense too much concealer just from holding the bottle, so honestly, if packaging is the only concern, I wouldn’t worry at all about the abilities of this product.
I am happy to say that I’ve found a economically priced foundation and concealer duo that actually works for me, and provides my skin with the coverage it needs! I can only imagine how great this product would be for people who don’t have as many skin problems as I do.
This product also claims to give you “better looking skin in 3 weeks” – Although i’ve only had it for almost a week, I can see that it actually does help my skin. The oil that I complained about earlier doesn’t build up when i’m wearing it, and i’ve noticed that it hasn’t aggravated my skin like a lot of other products do. I’ve also noticed that I can use this product without primer and the coverage lasts all day!
… To think I was going to spend $59 on a NARS foundation!
I will do a product update in 3 weeks to confirm whether the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin foundation and concealer really does give you better skin… I have very high hopes!
For now though, I do recommend this product to everyone who is in need of a great foundation for a great price!
Neutral basics combined to create a flattering, elegant look which can take you from day to night.
You honestly can’t go wrong with boxy tees and midi skirts! It’s also about the simple heel and the efficient clutch!

There are many things that I love about Breakfast At Tiffany’s. Firstly, the novel was written by one of my favourite authors, Truman Capote. Secondly I feel like Ms Golightly, although beautiful in appearance, and alluring in aura, is very very emotionally damaged. I feel like it’s a trait that anyone who has dreams goes through. Anyone who has been hurt can understand where Ms Golightly is coming from.
Not only that, there’s something about Breakfast at Tiffany’s that makes me nostalgic of places I’ve never been to, and people that I’ve never met (or exist… book characters…) and also makes me fall in love with the idea of New York even more than usual!
However, it is also so beautifully classic with regard to the fashion seen in the film, worn by the elegant, free spirited Holly Golightly. Even the idea of keeping a stray ginger cat and taking daily strolls through Tiffany & Co. is so much more appealing when you’re dressed like so.
Honestly, since watching Breakfast At Tiffany’s at this age, I’ve developed a yearning to dress in gorgeous black Givenchy dresses everyday, with over sized hats, hiding behind the classic “Audrey” sunglasses.
There is something about Kim Kardashian’s style lately that I absolutely love, and I think it’s the gorgeous silhouettes that the outfits accentuate. It’s the use of colour in the most elegant way. It’s the simplicity of the look, and the effortless sophistication that radiates from her when she’s wearing them.
I know, i’ve used such floral language to describe Kim Kardashian and her outfits, but take a look and you’ll understand what I mean.
This is the epitome of effortless style.
Plus, you can steal this style so easily! These outfits are composed of basics in very neutral colours. Midi skirts, body suits, ankle jeans button up shirts and cropped knits, finished with staple heels or sneakers e voilá!
I have, however, saved the best till last. This is my all time favourite look
After much style stalking, Kim is wearing
- American Apparel Cotton Spandex Jersey tank bodysuit in summer peach
- Ermanno Scervino skirt
- Gianvito Rossi shoes
- Saint Laurent sunglasses
I know I haven’t posted in a long time, and i’m sorry! It’s been a very busy time for me with regard to school and family and every time I get a spare moment, I start writing but always get distracted with other things and so I have a whole heap of material drafted that I either haven’t finished or haven’t edited!
One of my goals, however, is to at least post once a week! and i’m going to finish of the articles i’ve begun, starting with this one!
Lately, I have become obsessed with chokers. There is something about their 90’s mystical vibe that has lured me in. I first joined the choker club with a delicate half moon choker from Seventh Sun which is really comfortable to wear and gives off a really relaxed, cool indie/hippy type of vibe. The quality is quite good from what I’ve noticed and really versatile to suit any style!
I’ve always had a ‘thing’ for crystals… crystal necklaces, rings, and even have a little crystal collection which I’ve had since I was 5. The beauty of the enigmatic stones, and their ‘powers’ make them the perfect, unique accessory, as each stone is different and significant in some way. They are a very personal accessory which, although style and cut can be replicated, the stone itself can’t.
When I was in Italy, I purchased this gorgeous crystal necklace from a little market store at the base of these beautiful (and somewhat claustrophobic) krast caves in Marche, Italy, called “Le Grotte Di Frassasi” (The Frassasi caves) This necklace has been my staple every day necklace since April last year and still, to this day, I have no clue what type of a crystal it is! My closest guess is an amber stone, but I can’t be sure!
On Wednesday I also received this gorgeous Rose Quartz necklace from thelunarlabel, which is just so easy to wear and just gives me a really positive energy! For the amazing price of $8 NZD (with free postage!) I will definitely be purchasing more, next time with my favourite crystal, the amethyst!
This is the cheapest, chicest, and most unique way of changing up your style and giving it a bit of a naturally beautiful twist!
