This is probably one of the best outfits i’ve seen Beyoncé in! It’s so effortlessly elegant, cool, and collected!
You can get the look below!
There are many things that I love about Breakfast At Tiffany’s. Firstly, the novel was written by one of my favourite authors, Truman Capote. Secondly I feel like Ms Golightly, although beautiful in appearance, and alluring in aura, is very very emotionally damaged. I feel like it’s a trait that anyone who has dreams goes through. Anyone who has been hurt can understand where Ms Golightly is coming from.
Not only that, there’s something about Breakfast at Tiffany’s that makes me nostalgic of places I’ve never been to, and people that I’ve never met (or exist… book characters…) and also makes me fall in love with the idea of New York even more than usual!
However, it is also so beautifully classic with regard to the fashion seen in the film, worn by the elegant, free spirited Holly Golightly. Even the idea of keeping a stray ginger cat and taking daily strolls through Tiffany & Co. is so much more appealing when you’re dressed like so.
Honestly, since watching Breakfast At Tiffany’s at this age, I’ve developed a yearning to dress in gorgeous black Givenchy dresses everyday, with over sized hats, hiding behind the classic “Audrey” sunglasses.
September 3rd will be the night!
I will be seeing amazing designers and brands like Manning Cartel, LIFEwithBIRD, Khalo, Carly Hunter, Alice Mccall, Lui Hon, YB J’AMIE, Neo Dia, and finally, Willow.
Expect a lot of photos and a lot of excitement, because this will undoubtedly be the highlight of my life in the next few incredibly busy weeks!!!
A quick side note: I know my feed is becoming slower day by day, but my final year of VCE is demanding my full attention, but I will always try to post where possible!
One of the chicest skirts to ever grace the streets – Faux leather skirts!
The versatility with the simple, leather look skirt is incredible. This skirt can be anything that you want it to be. Elegant? check, Casual? check.
The faux leather skirt is the biggest staple in street style at the moment, for anyone and any style!
I want everyone to stop considering the leather skirt as a risk, and befriend the amazing piece, as there are styles and cuts to suit everyone, every shape, and every mood!
Here are some more examples of how you can style a leather skirt for various occasions! (Excuse the poses, i’m a writer and stylist, not a model!)
So I must admit, most of these products I have had before July/August but I have become absolutely hung up on these products, and have or will use them excessively, and recommend you do the same!
Let’s start with the basics which should become of your skin care regiment (if they aren’t already). I absolutely love the Formula 10.0.6 skin care range, and I use So Totally Clean Deep Pore Cleanser which is a 2-in-1 cleanser and toner, which doesn’t require any water. All you do is use makeup remover pads, a few drops and voila! Of course, I only use this when I feel very lazy or don’t have time to wash my face properly, but this definitely does the trick. It cleanses well and leaves my skin feeling clean and smooth.
Also from Formula 10.0.6, I use the Best Face Forward Daily Foaming Cleanser which uses passionfruit and green tea to keep my skin clean and oil free, while the green tea exfoliates!
But, I don’t just use these products alone. For Christmas in 2012, my mum bought me the Models Prefer Skin Cleanser, which is almost exactly like a Clarisonic Cleansing System, but is a quarter of the price! This system comes with four attachments: A soft bristled brush, a normal brush, a sponge applicator, and massage fingers. I found that the normal brush is too harsh on my skin, as I have very sensitive skin, but after cleansing with it, I feel like I have also taken away a layer of skin, which is actually a good thing. Normally though, I use the soft bristled brush because I don’t wear that much makeup (normally just foundation and concealer). The sponge applicator is good for moisturiser, but I don’t use it often because I noticed that it doesn’t apply the moisturiser in a way that makes it blend into my skin, but rather leaves a thin layer in certain areas which I then need to massage in by hand. As for the massage fingers, I find them a bit awkward to use, but they do feel relaxing! When my jaw feels tense from clenching (which I do often), I use the massage fingers to hover over the sore area (externally) and find that it does release tension, but unless you open your mouth and separate your teeth, you might feel a very discomforting vibration through your teeth! The system is battery powered, which is fine by me because the batteries last for a very long time! If you are considering purchasing a Clarisonic (which can range from $100-$250), I suggest you try the Models Prefer which you can purchase at Priceline or Target for $15, which basically does the exact same job, and even comes with more attachments with no extra cost!
Now, moving on to makeup tools!
One of my gorgeous friends bought me Real Techniques Core Collection Cosmetic Brushes, which automatically makes her my makeup guardian angel, because since then, my foundation, concealer and lipstick has been flawless***
The Detailer Brush is so perfect for applying lipstick without a liner or perfecting lip arches, but also for concealing problem areas with precision!
The Pointed Foundation Brush is my best friend. It literally applies any liquid foundation evenly and the point is perfectly angled to reach all areas of the face and neck!
Finally, I use the Buffing Brush solely for powder foundation, which I use to blend around my jaw line, chin and neck to ensure that my coverage is even and that I have no foundation lines!
What I noticed, however, is that sometimes I would be in a rush and would be unable to spend 10 or so minutes applying concealer and foundation with the brushes and taking all the precautions to make sure that everything was blended in properly, so, intrigued by the colour and desperate to buy a product from Mecca Maxima, I purchased the Kit Cosmetics Blender Sphere which has once again revolutionised my makeup routine, and I cannot urge you enough to join in on it’s impeccable and immaculate makeup blending powers!
The Kit Cosmetics Blender Sphere is the highly economic price of $14.99 and is literally one of the best cosmetic tools I have bought! The Blender Sphere speeds up the process of applying makeup while providing unblemished and accurate coverage. The sphere shape means that the slightly pointed ends can be used to reach smaller areas or places that require more detailed blending, while the middle of the sponge can be used to blend in the larger areas of the face.
Honestly, the Blender Sphere is a tool that I can’t imagine not using, and works so perfectly hand-in-hand with the Real Techniques cosmetic brushes!
This month, being August and 4 months away from the opening of Sephora in Sydney, Australia, I have decided that I will continue to use the best mascara I have ever purchased.
It was the Sephora Collection Full Action Extreme Effect Mascara in Ultra Black. This mascara is perfect. I am not even exaggerating. It lengthens, volumises, perfectly separates (I hate clumped eyelashes!), and curves your lashes without the need of an eyelash curler! Not only is the quality amazing, but it does wonders for your lashes! Before this mascara, I would apply an annoying amount of mascara repetitively to my lashes, which not only damaged them, but felt uncomfortable! With the Sephora Collection mascara, I found that I only need one or two layers before my lashes look great! What’s even better? It’s affordable!
It seems as though the Sephora Collection eye makeup products dominate above the other brands which Sephora sells, because I also love the Sephora Collection Long-lasting Eyeliner in 01 Noir Black. The precision I get with this liquid eyeliner is incredible! Before this eyeliner, I barely even bothered with liner because I already knew that it would take a miracle before I could perfect my liner, but with this product, I have been able to master the art of eyeliner multiple times thanks to the high precision ultra-fine bristle brush.
After all of that eye makeup, you’re going to need a good, gentle product that can remove the liner and mascara without tearing out lashes, creating ‘panda eyes’, or your average cleanser where you risk going red-eyed from accidentally opening your eyes to make sure you’ve removed everything before rinsing!
I use the Sephora Collection Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover. I was given this product as a sample when I purchased the mascara and liner, and I wish I purchased a bottle bigger than 25ml! All you do is apply a few drops of the serum to a makeup remover pad and gently wipe your eyes. The serum not only removes makeup, but strengthens the lashes with it’s lash strengthening complex, which is perfect for people who wear contacts and others with sensitive eyes! The product is literally for everyone so try it!
Lip balm seems like an easy product to buy, but a quality balm is hard to come across! A few years ago I was on a very strong medication for my skin, where dry lips were a major side effect. It was so harsh that laughing was painful, and giving people a polite smile was out of the question. Out of desperation I used Vaseline but it was so impractical, especially when I was in class, the last thing I wanted to do was pull out a jar of Vaseline. My troubles came to end end when I discovered Maybelline Baby Lips.
I’m not sure what it is, but Baby Lips has continued to be my favourite lip balm that I have ever tried. At the generous price of $3.95, Baby Lips moisturises your lips almost instantly. First, a few minutes after application, you begin to shed the dry skin (if there is any), which then leaves you with smooth and cushioned lips that taste really, really nice! I just finished my favourite Menthol flavoured balm, and today replaced it with the Mango Pie flavour, which I hadn’t tried before, but am really liking! Since trying Maybelline Baby Lips I don’t think I can use any other balm!
Last year I won a competition, and included in the package was a voucher for a makeover with Gorgeous Cosmetics in Melbourne Central, which I redeemed and discovered the incredible lipsticks! A little short on money, I could only purchase one item that the lovely makeup artist used on me, but I am so happy I decided on the lipstick! The colour is a deep, dark red called Shiraz (M29), which is the perfect winter colour!
Anyone who knows me, knows that I absolutely love my two Chanel lipsticks for their quality and vibrance, but I can honestly and justly compare the quality of Gorgeous Cosmetics to the quality of Chanel! The lipstick is long lasting and remains vibrant, and I love the canister that it’s in! Yes, the Chanel quality is slightly better (which you would expect) but Gorgeous Cosmetics lipsticks are very close in standard for a little over half the price of a Chanel lipstick!
Finally, my 13th favourite beauty product of July/August is…
My M.A.C Cosmetics Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in ‘More To Love‘ This hot pink liner of perfectness is exactly as described: Long wearing. What I love about this lip pencil is that the quality is so good that if I wanted to, I could wear it without lipstick by lining then filling in my lips. The colour is bold and makes a statement on it’s own! It also brings back memories, as I purchased it in Dubai Airport on the way home from Italy! The crayon texture makes it glide on accurately and smoothly, while staying on without smudging!
It’s the perfect mediator when you don’t feel like wearing lipstick, but want a beautifully vibrant colour on your lips!
So that’s it! Those are my favourite beauty products of July/August which are gracing my makeup bag for the month!

Hi everyone! First off, I’d like to apologise for not posting in ages, school is back on and has been so crazy from the get-go!
I have a few things planned for TFJ and will announce it all with time, but for now, here is a quick get the look post from a recent outfit that I absolutely loved (and didn’t even care if I became an outfit repeater!)
Over the school break, a couple of friends and I ventured into the city to shoot photos for a media folio, and to eat an awesome lunch at TGIF Melbourne Central. While we were there, the opportunity to shoot at the State Library came up, so we walked across and got some shots!
Here are a few which show the outfit, and you can get the look below!
My boots, however, are cut-out boots, and are from Lipstik Shoes, and the watch, ring, necklace and earrings in the edit above are some accessories that I absolutely would have loved to team with this outfit. Instead, I am wearing a black and gold spiked necklace from Colette by Colette Hayman, and an Ingersoll Disney watch.
Photography thanks to Sarah C!
Motivating? Oh yeah.
I’m just happy that I can tick off the Topshop Jeans, the Tiffany necklace and the Real Techniques cosmetic brushes!
Just a quick appreciation post for the amazingly gorgeous Emilia Clarke from HBO’s Game Of Thrones, which wrapped up it’s fourth season with an amazing finale!
Let us thank the old gods, and the new, for this incredible show.
This look is inspired by season 4 Game of Thrones… Not just because I am obsessed with the series, but because once I saw this dress, it reminded me of the incredibly romantic and amazing relationship between Daenerys and Drogo, and the part in the story when they call each other “moon of my life” and “my sun and stars”, and everyone ended up loving them as a couple.
This is also a look that I have been slowly trying to achieve by purchasing the boots, a similar bag, and a leather jacket. It’s all apart of my quest to mix casual and dressy. It’s also an expression of all of my latest obsessions, which are dresses, leather and black. All I’ve been wearing lately is black and I love it so much.
Also, the Melbourne weather is finally allowing me to wear Autumn/Winter clothes, and I’m so happy because Autumn/Winter is my favourite season in fashion!
My main goal is to achieve an outfit similar to this
With the Autumn/Winter season creeping up on us over here in Australia, and the return of Game of Thrones to our screens, I think it’s safe to say that obsessions can easily (and subconsciously) influence our style!
Last but not least, even in Game of Thrones, they know a thing or two about fashion (hint: spoiler)
As a young woman living in Melbourne I find it necessary to attempt to feel and look my best where possible. With the advances of social media, men and women universally emulate others in regards to their style. These people become our style icons and I was lucky enough to interview my local icon, Rozalia Russian.
Interestedly enough, I came to know of Rozalia through Instagram. Don’t ask how I found her, because all I remember was seeing the most amazingly chic outfit on this woman who was holding my favorite Louis Vuitton Speedy bag, complete with her initials, R.R.
Perception is a crucial element of the new social media takeover. Rozalia gives her followers a sense of luxury, elegance and affordability, which is why I thought an interview with her would be extremely beneficial to The Fashion Journals and will help to prove that all of these qualities that Rozalia possesses and that I try to preach with my posts is incredibly achievable.
TFJ: As a woman with influence over a mass populace of people, did it surprise you to find through social media that so many women emulate your style?
ROSA: It is very humbling when girls approach me saying that they love my style and often buy the same pieces that I have. I didn’t start my instagram thinking that I would turn it into a daily fashion blog, however I am lucky that people seem to like my style and value my opinion.
It has definitely been a fun year and a half and I have been given some amazing opportunities that I am very grateful for.
Along with concealer, if I only have 5 min to get ready my beauty products that I have to use would be blush, eyebrow pencil and mascara.
TFJ: Adjusting to motherhood is a big thing, would you say that there is anything that you wish you knew before hand that you know now?
ROSA: To not only carry spare clothes for baby but also for your self!
Two words… Leaking Nappies!
TFJ: Do you think that your new baby girl, Willow already has a style that suits her? Do you have any aspirations for her regarding fashion?
ROSA: It kills me to admit this but Willow doesn’t like dressing up! Getting dressed isn’t one of her favourite activities yet as she doesn’t like things going over her head and her mum trying to keep her foot still whilst putting on shoes! Haha!
In terms of what suits her, I think at this age when you cant really tell if they look like a girl or boy its just easier to dress her in pastel pinks.
She isn’t a fan of reds, greens, yellows, purples or hot pink (well her mum isn’t)
“Your wardrobe should be made up of 80% style and 20% trends.
Every season we see a new trend coming through weather it be peplum, midriff tops, high-tops etc.…
As quickly as these trends come in they will go out of fashion.
Style however will never be out of fashion, What I mean by style is the investment classic pieces which consist of, a well tailored blazer, a silk white shirt, good fitting basic t shirts, a simple black pointy heel etc.
These classic items should be a staple in every girl’s wardrobe as they will never be out of fashion.”
So, my lovely readers, take note of what Mrs Russian has said, trust [us], you will hit the mark every time!

The Screen Actors Guild Awards of 2014 flourished with our favourite actors and actresses in amazing gowns and suits that we, as an audience, drooled over for the duration of the red carpet.
Throughout the course of the red carpet event, however, I noticed that I either loved or hated the outfits.
For example, Meryl Streep, an amazing actress and acting visionary who I admire for her work, could have been styled in a more flattering way. The black Stella McCartney number that she sported was less than praising of her figure and potential. We all do remember how well Ms Streep cleaned up in The Devil Wears Prada do we not? I personally love Meryl Streep but I think that we would have liked to see her be more ‘elegant Hollywood legend’ rather than her ‘I have no figure’ statement that I believe was completely unintentional.
On the other hand, Meryl Streep’s accessories, hair and makeup definitely saved the ensemble, making her look as lovely as always and we congratulate her on her nomination!
I had managed to narrow down my top five favourite gowns, which I will announce in a true ‘award ceremony’ manner…
Coming in 5th is Ms Jennifer Lawrence, wearing Dior
Jennifer Lawrence was nominated for her role in American Hustle and walked away with the award of “outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture”
My fourth favourite look was found on English actress Emilia Clarke, Wearing Calvin Klein. Emilia was nominated for “outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series” in the HBO Series Game of Thrones
In third, The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev, wearing Ellie Saab
In Second we have Sofia Vergara, wearing Donna Karan Atelier. Sofia was nominated and became recipient of the “outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series” award for Modern Family.
In first place, My favourite look of the night. A woman whose presence on my TV screen absolutely blew me away was none other than Lupita Nyong’o. Lupita stunned us all in her Gucci number.
One other TV personality who continues to shock me is the one and only Kelly Osbourne! Although not an actress or award recipient of any sort, the E! Fashion Police star looked absolutely stunning in Zac Posen. As an interviewer, I think that she stole the spotlight from her interviewees!
I am obsessed with black. I want everything to be black and I will have everything black.
Black is class, sophistication, effortless style. Black is easy to wear, black is slimming… What are stains?
What’s better than black? Sheer black! Sheer tops, Sheer skirts… I cannot get enough!
My absolute favourite is the black mesh midi skirt from Topshop! I have been eyeing it since it’s debut onto the Topshop website and till’ this day, it has consumed my thoughts (Not even an exaggeration)
Lucky for me, my beautiful mother has a talent for sewing… I can get this skirt in black and white for less than half retail price!
I will be lavishing in these skirts for as long as I can! Plus, I highly doubt that this fixation for all things black will go out of style anytime soon!
