Winter has come, and you have no idea how happy I am that this season has arrived.
PS I hope you guys like Game Of Thrones references…
Step one: Put a hat on and don’t worry about a thing (because every little thing, is gonna be alright) Continue reading
I am so sorry for not posting for over a week! In the mean time, I’ve been working on a sister blog called TFJ UNI STYLE. It originally started solely because I had an assignment where I had to create a unique blog based on a passion, and now I have heaps of things planned for it because I think it’s something that can really benefit my uni student reader demographic.
With that being said though, TFJ is my BAE and I just haven’t had a chance this past week to spend some quality time on it. Rest assured though, that as of this Thursday I will be on a two month break from uni so there will literally be a post every day.
This outfit idea came to me when I tried on the Max Mara Rialto hooded coat but wasn’t a massive fan of the sleeves. I loved the idea of a structured camel vest with statement leather pants, so I teamed this Theory trench with Yves Saint Laurent pants. I absolutely love the texture of the A Wang bag and how it gives the outfit a nice twist. I think my next major bag purchase will definitely be one of the Alexander Wang Rockie bags, I absolutely love them.
I finally got around to buying a pair of culottes!
Like most things that I try to photograph, I couldn’t capture how great they actually look.I know, I’m barking up my own tree but honestly I don’t care, it’s too good not to share!
I’ve also styled the culottes with a white turtleneck shirt, which looksgreat as well. I’ve tried (and failed) to do a ‘view from the top’ photo with the white shirt as well, just to show how versatile the culottes actually are!
(Excuse the quality, I was in the David Jones reserve right before I got changed into my work uniform)
Here I’ve used metallic leather VANS, but like in my first culottes post, they can be easily styled with any type of shoe, and personally I prefer them with pointed boots just because it gives the look a more polished feel.
Ribbed turtle neck: ASOS
Coat: Bardot (no longer available)
Shoes: VANS (these are the ‘Glitter’ style in silver, but the style has now been changed from metallic leather to sequins)
PS: sorry for being ridiculously un-photogenic!
I seriously cannot believe it! Almost two years and in such a short time we’ve come so far!
I know, 2,000 may not seem like a lot, but to someone who didn’t even think that anyone would see this blog, it’s a lot. Not to mention the fact that all I’ve ever wanted was to be able to influence people; to have a platform where I could be completely honest and opinionated, and people would listen. Now I have 2,000 people listening and I’m starting to think that I’m doing something right.
One thing’s for sure though, and it’s that The Fashion Journals has been a pretty solo ride. Everything that you see i’ve put together in hopes that it’s what people want to see, but I don’t want to do that anymore. I want to not only work for myself, but for you. At the end of the day, I can read and re-read the content that I put up but that won’t mean a thing if I’m the only person gaining from this. I want this blog to benefit every reader in the same way that writing it benefits me. I’ve found myself in a world where anything is possible, where the most unlikely of people can create something that can grow to be influential. Let’s be real, for anyone who knew me, you would never have thought that I of all people would be writing a fashion blog, yet here I am, and I’m loving every minute of it. To tell you the truth, since starting TFJ my mind has never stopped working, and it’s exhausting, but I’m so passionate about this that I don’t care, doing this gives me a reason to strive for things, to work hard so that one day I can dedicate myself solely to The Fashion Journals.
In order to do this, I want to encourage you to connect as much as possible. I want to write this for you, so I need you to tell me what you want to see. Is there a piece of clothing that you have an have no idea to style it? Is there an event you want me to cover? Curious about a beauty product? Just ask!
So, finally, I want to thank everyone for your support, without each and every one of you, I probably wouldn’t be so focused on building TFJ to be all that it can be. This site wouldn’t have the life and atmosphere that it does if it weren’t for you, so thank you.

I have a serious case of wanderlust and it’s not going away!
Knowing that Coachella is happening and i’m not there is making it worse, and so is watching any TV show that’s based in New York. Let’s not even get me started on my desperate need to go to London.
I just really want to travel the world and feel those emotions that I felt when I was away exactly two years ago. It’s been two years too long.
Due to my wanderlust I created this edit. It’s just one of those “if I were getting on a plane right now what would I wear?” edits. Yes, I would wear jeans, I could sleep in jeans if I wanted to.
Here’s to staying in school and the thought of dancing at Coachella.

I know, I couldn’t help the french revolution reference to the Sans Culottes.
I’ve been seeing culottes around for a long time but for some reason the idea didn’t hit me until I was in Sportsgirl the other day and saw a pair. I didn’t have time to try them on, but I couldn’t stop thinking about them. Coincidentally, I then got a voucher for Sportsgirl, so maybe it’s a sign?
Either way I thought I should try and style them, and I came up with these two options, one for summer, one for winter. The colour of the culottes is so versatile and chic (maybe even more so than black) and I figure that, as they are a statement piece, they should be a colour other than black.
I think the best way to wear culottes is by teaming them with a fitted top, and if need be, an oversized, yet structured coat. I think that although culottes in themselves are a statement, but I think that you definitely need to accessorise, because it will pull the whole look together. The shape and location of the culottes need something to tie the whole look together and flatter your shape. Simple things like a crop top and a long necklace paired with culottes gives the outfit dimension, which I believe is needed with culottes.

I know, judging by the title you’d assume this was a makeup post… I would too but then once you look at the radiating effortlessness from this edit, you can understand why I called it “Au Naturale”
There’s nothing I’m loving more at the moment than completely neutral, block coloured outfits with detailed accessories. This set is one of my ideal outfits to wear both casually during the day, or more dressed up at night, only needing to change your hairstyle!
This edit also features a good mix of high end designers and economical statement pieces, such as the beige coat which is only $26!!!

It’s been quite a while now that i’ve been keeping a close eye on KJ’s style, but there’s something about the cliché blue lob and over lined lips that has stopped me from sharing my observations. I think I was just worried that I would seem like another basic trend follower, but I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t care because… why should I?
Kylie can literally go from elegant and sassy to Coachella ready in 0.00 seconds and no matter what style she tries, she pulls it off. Not only are her outfits on point all the time, but so is her makeup and hair. It’s literally like she doesn’t put a foot wrong, which reminds me, Kylie could (and does) wear plain jeans and a singlet top, and always has the most incredible shoes which make the whole outfit. Here’s what I mean:
I think what I like most about Kylie’s style is that it reminds me that anyone with any means can look chic without breaking the budget. Say you invest in good, gorgeous pairs of shoes in neutral colours, you can easily add an air of effortless style to an otherwise plain outfit. Finish the look with unique jewellery and you’ve got yourself a super easy, super chic look with minimal effort!
Literally a compilation of the chicest pieces that you need in your wardrobe this season! Combined together and you get this cool, effortless yet elegant look, featuring:

Every time I think of an ideal outfit, one of the first things I think about is affordability. When I saw the top for $17AUD I almost did a double backflip (sort of… not really) but I was very shocked. Then, I went searching for an inexpensive skirt and found this one from Doublju and lost my mind when I noticed it had been on sale for $4.90 and was $15 full price!!!
Nothing beats a gorgeous outfit that makes you look a million dollars, but actually costs $124.20 in total!!!
I’m also really loving neutral colours and rose gold at the moment, so it’s really reassuring to see that you can achieve a certain look for a minimal amount!
Not only does this look form part of my summer wishlist, but I think this is the perfect casual sports-luxe look!
