Since I was 16 I have been loyal to one foundation, and that is the MAC studio fix fluid. Lately, I haven’t really been liking the consistency and coverage that it was giving me, so I made an irrational decision to try something new. In those uncontrollable moments when you realise it’s pay day and you haven’t bought yourself anything exciting in a week, sometimes you make irrational decisions. I however, did not.
Usually, I hate the term ‘holy grail’ when people talk about beauty products, therefore I refuse to call this a ‘holy grail’ product, even if it technically should be.
I remember watching a beauty vlog one time and literally, the whole five minutes, this Youtuber pulled out every product she owned and said “this is definitely a holy grail product!”, which really made me ponder whether she knew any adjectives or not…
Regardless, this has to be the best unplanned purchase I have ever made. The MAC cream colour bases are generally used as highlighters, but I also like to use mine as a stand alone eye shadow, and even an eye shadow base. The consistency is perfect for highlighter, because it is creamy but easily to blend and build for effect. I bought the shade ‘Hush’ which is this gorgeous, frosty blush pink colour.
On the cheeks it gives a beautiful, dewy highlight that makes my contour look really defined, but is subtle enough that it looks natural.
On the eyes it appears a lighter pink than on the cheeks, and I’ve found that it compliments my Naked 3 palette so well because the colour is slightly lighter than ‘dust’ but is more dense and therefore the pigments show more, so it’s the perfect base for a nude and slightly shimmery look.
I really do love this product, and I think that this colour in particular can suit so many different people. The product itself is so versatile and long lasting that it’s definitely worth more than it looks!

Wow okay so I am officially obsessed with LUSH cosmetics!
I know, it took me a really long time to jump on the band wagon. To be honest though, in the past (back when I didn’t have a job) I couldn’t justify spending a massive $6.75 on a bath bomb.
Once again, I know, I was a really lame person because what’s $6.75 in the grand scheme of things?
Regardless, my first experience with a LUSH product was a remarkably relaxing bath with their Space Girl bath bomb. The beautifully crafted bath bomb is in the shape of my favourite planet, Saturn.
This bath bomb seemed ridiculously glittery. I expected to emerge from the water like a sparkling alien of LUSHy goodness, and I did, but I didn’t have glitter all over me and in my hair, which was the greatest surprise of them all.
Firstly, when I placed the bath bomb into the water, a bittersweet aroma filled the room while Space Girl exploded into a pretty red rose shaped pattern, which quickly turned purple and spread throughout the water. I couldn’t recognise what scent the bath bomb was, but I later found out that it was blackcurrant. Soon enough, the water looked like a sparkling lilac galaxy, and when I got into the bath, the water was silky smooth.
I decided that I would make a really big deal about bath time, mostly because every bath I have is usually very unexciting and consists of very pathetic bubbles that last at most five minutes. In order to ensure that I was fully relaxed, I rented a copy of Gone Girl, set up my laptop, and lit some candles. To be honest, I didn’t realise that this could be a very practical thing, and it feels a little weird saying that I’ve done so. Regardless, I was extremely relaxed and there began my LUSH obsession.
Practically, I knew that this couldn’t last forever (or even last the running time of the movie), but I enjoyed every minute of it. When I came out of the bath, my skin was so, incredibly soft and smooth, and even my face was really smooth for days following the bath. I expected that as soon as I showered that this silkiness would wash off, but it didn’t, I assume it absorbed into my skin. With that being said, I have very sensitive skin, and I had no reactions to this product!
To say that something that seems as artificial as a bath bomb seeped into my skin on my face and didn’t encourage a massive break out was incredible, especially considering the glitter.
I think LUSH has definitely lived up to my expectations, and I’m really, really looking forward to my next bath with my new Twilight bath bomb that I bought the same day that I used Space Girl (I don’t want to be without)
Like I said, it has become an obsession.
I’m thinking of doing a fortnightly bath bomb post and review all of the different LUSH bath bombs, what do you guys think?
Also, I finally watched Gone Girl as was pretty happy with the film adaptation, especially considering how much I loved the book, but does Amy infuriate you like she infuriates me?
I mean, finally.
I know i’ve spoken about some of these products before, but I literally couldn’t have started 2015 with a bang without them!!! They are very basic, simple products that have managed to revolutionise the way I apply and think of makeup.
First up is the Maybelline New York Colour Elixir in Blush Essence
What a little pocket rocket! This lip gloss is literally the only gloss that I like!!! It’s not sticky or gooey and my hair doesn’t get stuck to it! It’s a miracle! The colour stays on, and is durable, especially during work, but I found that it comes off really quickly after devouring tacos so… take care.
This was my first bronzer, which I purchased because I was too scared to spend big $$$ on another brand just in case I couldn’t contour properly. Originally I tried the NARS Laguna Bronzer at Mecca Maxima, when I asked one of the girls to show me what it would be like to contour. She matched my colours to a perfect blush as well, which was the Bobbi Brown Nectar blush. However, I couldn’t justify spending $45 on a bronzer in the event that I couldn’t replicate the look, so instead I went to Priceline and purchased this bronzer. Lucky I did because it’s so good, especially for a drug store label! Since purchasing it, I have worn it everyday, and now i’m addicted to bronzing and contouring. It’s very easy to apply and it’s pressed formula makes it very easy to control when applying. It blends well and the shade is great for many different skin tones!
I also really love the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
It’s actually perfect in many ways! I find it hard to find a good concealer because my skin has a lot of imperfections and scars, and some concealers crease into the scars or highlight the imperfections, rather than hide them! This concealer, however, makes my skin look flawless!!! Of course, it doesn’t make the 3D seem 2D, but it does hide redness, dark circles, scars and the appearance of imperfections. What I like about this product is the consistency, because it’s quite thick and you don’t need a lot of it. Dark circles literally disappear and there are no creases under my eyes! I have and will continue to recommend this product to everyone I know, because everyone deserves a perfect concealer #you’rewelcome
The best beauty purchase I have made to date is the Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick Trio which included mini versions of Primrose, Fig, and Legendary.
I use Primrose on a daily basis because it’s literally the perfect shade of nude ever. It’s visible, trans-seasonal and requires little to no effort! It’s the type of shade you can wear with the most simple base and it seems like you’ve really put an effort into your makeup, when really, you put it on in the car on the way to the train station.
Fig is a really unique colour, and I absolutely love it! It’s a mix of red and purple (but mostly purple) and it’s probably the only purple pigmented lipstick that actually suits me! I’ve also seen this shade swatched a few times on different people and it seems very universal!
Legendary is a great shade of red, however i’m still hung up on my Chanel red (104 Passion), but because of the convenient size of Smashbox’s ‘Legendary’, I bring it with me to touch up when i’m out. It blends really nicely and I love the texture, even when I use it as the base colour.
Only recently have I gotten into body mists, and my favourite is the Victoria’s Secret Bombshell. It’s classic VS and the scent matches perfectly with my favourite perfumes (Vera Wang Pink Princess, Calvin Klein Euphoria, D&G La Roue De La Fortune). It’s a very unique, fresh fragrance but it isn’t very fruity, which is what I like about it. I’m not a massive fan of fruity, light fragrances, which is why Bombshell is perfect because it’s not a heavy scent, but it’s very iconic. It has hints of musk amongst blond-woods and oakmoss which tones down the top notes of tangelo, pineapple, strawberry, and purple passionfruit, which would be a very fruity scent without these dry-down notes. It also has middle notes of Jasmine, peony, and white orchid (my three favourite flowers). These scents combined create the perfect body mist that blends well with other fragrances and suits many people.
I’ve spoken about the NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Bangkok before, but I didn’t appreciate it as much as I do now. Why? you may ask: because I’ve experimented and have learned the best way to apply it. I always loved the colour of the lipstick, but I had a constant battle with the product once it was on because the matte aspect of it dried out my lips quickly and would peel my skin, making my lips look flakey. I even stopped using it for a while because I was wearing it to work, and didn’t have time to re-apply during my shift to re-hydrate my lips and re-apply. Then I invested in an invisible lip liner from Too Faced, and that’s when everything changed! I would line and fill in my lips with the invisible liner, which not only moisturised, but formed a primed base for my lipstick. Since using the two together, the lipstick doesn’t crumble, it stays on for hours, feels really comfortable, and applies easily! I would definitely recommend that you use a moisturising liner underneath NARS‘ pure matte lipsticks to get the ultimate effect of the product, and value for your money!
These past few months I’ve barely ever left the house without eyeliner on, and I mostly use the Sephora Collection Long Lasting Eyeliner [with] High Precision Brush, which is my favourite liquid eyeliner ever, but sadly I’ve run out, so to save myself from heartbreak, I’ve been using the Maybelline Eyestudio gel eyeliner, which is actually really good! At first, it’s a little hard to apply, especially if you’re used to liquid eyeliner, but once you get the hang of it, it is a really great product! It hardly smudges in my creases (which the Sephora liner does) and it doesn’t flake off (like other gel liners i’ve tried). For a drugstore purchase, it was very worth it! Just be aware that the brush that comes with it is horrible and no matter if you’re an eyeliner expert, you will not be able to get incredible results, or make the most of the product with that applicator! which is why I invested in the
Real Techniques silicone tip brush
I’ve dedicated a whole post to this brush, which you can read here. It still appears in this post because I really do love it!
Usually i’d say that my favourite lip liner is my MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil, but I only have that in one colour, which is frustrating considering I have many shades of lipstick and my MAC liner is hot pink. I needed something that was universal, that I can use for every lipstick that I had. When I found the Too Faced Borderline Invisible Lip Pencil, I wasn’t too sure about how good it would be. Then, when I saw it on sale, I didn’t even hesitate to purchase it and try it. Now, I have never looked back.
I think this liner has absolutely revolutionised how I wear lipstick. It’s the most convenient product I have ever tried, and not only that, the product itself moisturises and primes the lips, creating the perfect base for which ever lipstick you want!!! This is one product that I think is severely underrated! It’s probably my equal absolute favourite to the…
NARS Albatross highlighter!
I’ve saved the best till last! This is the perfect product that will help you to get the perfect summer, bronzed, glowing look (the highlighter provides the glow… obviously) I use this highlighter on my cheek bones and along my jaw line to give extra definition to those areas, then I use a little bit of blush on my inner cheeks to finish the look. The highlighter also goes above my brows to define them a little more and give them the illusion of perfect shape even if the shape isn’t actually on point. I heard a lot of warnings about looking like a disco ball after using Albatross but I’ve noticed that if you apply gently to your brush, it’s very easily avoided. Also, this product blends out easily if need be, while still being durable. It’s actually the perfect product!!! I recommend NARS Albatross 100% to anyone and everyone who wants the best contour!!!
There you have it! My favourite beauty products of 2014/2015! Let me know what you think about these products if you’ve tried them and feel free to ask any questions you may have!
10. Mim Pouches $49.95 -$69.95

8. Glasshouse Christmas candles
Glasshouse candles are a little piece of candle luxury for anyone at any time of the year, but the limited edition Christmas candles are things that only come around during festive season, and only last so long, so take advantage of the beautiful scents “White Christmas” and “Night Before Christmas” before they’re gone!!!
(featured above and linked below)
7. Travel books and city guides of their dream destination
If there’s one thing I love, it’s giving a gift that you know the person will treasure for years to come. When it comes to travelling, people develop emotional attachments to the places that hold beautiful memories, such as the first new city they went to, the town that they grew up in, the building that they baffled them with it’s beauty, the culture that changed the way they saw the world and approached life… You can take them back on an emotional trip with collectable travel books, such as these ones from Taschen ($38.40 AUD) and Louis Vuitton ($65) (without actually leaving home or damaging the hip-pocket!)
Taschen books are featured in the edit above, but you can see the whole range here
You can also take a look at, and purchase the Louis Vuitton books here
6. Personalised metallic prints
Not only are they an awesome, incredibly inexpensive gift idea, but while you’re getting creative for you friends, you can make some for yourself too! All you need is heat reactant foil, a laminator, and some graphics ready to print with a toner printer.
First create/download the graphics, then print them with a printer that uses toner, not ink. Then place the foil on top of the printed sheet, and place another blank sheet of paper on top of that (think like a paper, foil, paper sandwich) then put it through the laminator. The heat from the laminator will make the foil adhere to the graphics. Peel the foil off e voilá!
You can purchase the foil from your local art supply store, and DIY the rest! It’s also a nice idea to frame them so they’re ready for use and so that they don’t get scratched!!!
5. Designer phone cases
Perfect for when you want to make a “I buy designer as presents” impression or for that person who absolutely loves the Kenzo tiger print, but you can’t afford to buy them the sweater! Here are some super cool ones from Kenzo, Michael Kors, Stella McCartney and Moschino here, here, here, and here!!!
4. Subscriptions to their favourite magazine
I would die (in a good way) if someone got me a subscription to Elle or Vogue… why? because that saves me from forking out precious $$$ every month plus it ensures that I never miss an issue for the whole year! It’s a gift that never stops giving!
3. Peter Alexander pyjamas
So we all are guilty of unintentionally (mostly completely intentionally) splurging at Peter Alexander for ourselves, but how nice would it be if you could share the PA love with someone else this Christmas?! You can go for the classic and jolly seasonal Christmas collection, or even get a little more personal with their new Disney, Marvel and Breakfast at Tiffany ranges! You can see the full range here
2. Assorted LUSH products
After the stress, preparation, hard work and dedication that goes into the festive season, why not make sure that your giftee can wind down while welcoming in the new year? LUSH have an incredible range of soaps, bath bombs and cosmetics, and what’s better is that they’ve conveniently packed and wrapped them just for you! I know I could spend quite some time in-store figuring out what to buy, so instead the pre-wrapped sets are perfect! You can see the full range here
1. Personalised candles from Candles by Alexa-Rose
Yes, I know, more personalised apparel, but seriously why wouldn’t anyone want a candle that fits perfectly into their space and not only soothes, but reminds them of the things that they love. You can send in photos, logos or choose from Mira, Bec, and Kate’s designs, and they can create a totally unique candle just for you! Now, I’m not being biased or anything, but seriously try and see what you think about the great work of these lovely ladies! I’ve collaborated with them and one lucky winner will receive two free candles which are pictured below! (Competition coming soon!!!)
So there you have it! Last minute gift ideas that can adapt to everyone’s budgets, needs and giftee’s!!!
Yes, I ‘created’ a word. No, I do not care if it doesn’t happen. Did Gretchen care that “fetch” didn’t happen??? Well, yes, but that doesn’t matter!
Merry Christmas and happy shopping!!!

There isn’t much that makes me feel like it’s christmas and i’m five years old anymore, which is a bit sad, but nonetheless, a makeup haul sure induced that feeling!
Between my makeup application at Mecca Maxima Highpoint, Priceline’s 40% off sale, and email notifications about Smashbox’s limited edition lipsticks all in one week, it was safe to say that maybe I over-splurged on cosmetics…
I must admit, I have no regrets what so ever! So what I was short $0.25 to buy a friend’s birthday present this week?! Who cares that my purse is left with a very lonely $0.10 piece? not me!
Smashbox Be Legendary Limited Edition Lipstick Trio – $25
Umm who wouldn’t buy three perfectly sized mini lipsticks in a pack with gorgeous, vibrant colours?! Did I mention that they’re limited edition?
Maybelline New York Color Elixir lip gloss – RRP $17.95
Did someone just say 40% off at Priceline? Not only that, but I had a $10 reward voucher, so technically, I bought two for the price of half of one… winning.
NARS Albatross Highlighter – $39
I caved. It’s been on my wish list for too long and contouring without highlighter just doesn’t seem right! I’ve literally used this highlighter non stop since purchasing it! Originally, I couldn’t justify spending $39 on a highlighter, but since I did, I do not regret it one bit!!!
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – $35
There is literally nothing better than being able to hide imperfections without caking your makeup. Thanks, NARS.
NARS Pure Matte Lipstick – $35
Every body needs a quality nude lipstick, okay?!
Kit Cosmetics False Eyelashes – $17
What’s a makeover without false eyelashes? Go hard or go home!
Now, I don’t know why I felt I needed to justify my purchases, but it seems like my hip pocket nerve feels a little better now…
However, my beauty wish list is rather long, and instead of listing the items, i’ll link you! I like to call this the “if I could, I would” wish list!
I literally just spent the best $15 of my life. I can’t even begin to describe the joy that this incredibly thin little brush gave me!
A few months ago I purchased the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eye Liner and was so disappointed that the brush that it came with just didn’t work. It was too flimsy and had no precision what.so.ever.
Due to this, I gave up on the idea of gel eyeliner all together. Instead I kept on using my Sephora Collection Long Lasting Eyeliner which is a fantastic product, but I did want to venture out and try a gel.
I looked into buying an Artiste Flat Liner Brush or their Angled Liner Brush. I also considered the Real Techniques Fine Liner Brush, but when I took a look at the brushes, I noticed that with a little pressure, the lines would be really think, as the bristles of the brushes widened.
That’s when I discovered the silicone tip brush.
Once I purchased, tried and tested the brush, It left me speechless. It was as if I suddenly became an eyeliner goddess. With a small dabble in the gel pot, and a quick, easy stroke, my eyeliner was flawless. I couldn’t believe it!
If you’re having trouble getting the perfect gel eyeliner look because of your tools, look no further than the Real Techniques Silicone Liner Brush!
It’s a known fact that a good base provides the foundation for a good makeup day (no pun intended) and sometimes having a good base requires a lot of time and effort to ensure that coverage is smooth and flattering.
It’s no secret that my skin isn’t the easiest surface to cover, not only do I have way too many acne scars, but because of the stress i’ve been under this year, I also have my fair share of unwelcome blemishes. So, along with the redness and the new oil that has developed in my T-Zone (which never existed until 3 months ago) I have had many difficulties finding a decently priced foundation and concealer that would actually work.
For a few months I was using the Rimmel London ‘Wake Me Up‘ foundation and concealer, and although it was a great product, lately I felt that “good enough” just wasn’t good enough. Once that ran out I switched to the Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation, which is really good, the coverage is great and the consistency is comfortable but also reliable. A few days after purchasing this, however, I was given the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin foundation and concealer. Since hearing about it’s release, I was very interested in trying it, but never got around to buying it, so when the opportunity to review the product came about, I jumped at it straight away!
Firstly, once I got past the excitement of receiving these products, I unwrapped the package as if I were a five year old and was unwrapping the biggest christmas present ever. Looking at the two bottles filled me up with pride – I was finally seeing physical results of blogging! (or as I like to call them – “Blogger Perks”)
Then, once the excitement subsided and I showed the unopened products to everyone on my Snapchat list, I ventured off to try the products!
The foundation at first seemed like it had a very thin consistency, which worried me because I thought “great, imagine how quickly i’m going to get through this!” because one pump didn’t seem enough to cover my face. Before adding a second pump, I thought I should see how much product comes out with one pump. It was actually the perfect amount! Then the second thing that crossed my mind was “Okay, so if the consistency is so thin, but the amount was good, should I use a second pump to make sure that I have a good coverage?”. The answer was no! The SuperStay Better Skin foundation gave me an even coverage that hid a lot of my scars… and this was without concealer!
Then I added the concealer on top of my scars and blemishes (mostly on my cheeks) and found that the scars disappeared and the redness no longer existed! It seemed almost too good to be true! Then I thought “okay so if it’s covering this well, I don’t think it will last in the heat this coming summer” especially considering how thin the consistency really was. Lucky for me, Melbourne weather pulled through to give me a beautiful 29 degree day, perfect product testing weather!
Here is just some background info about the SuperStay Better Skin products:
Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin is Maybelline’s first vitamin enriched long wear foundation with skin improving Actyl-C. It provides all-day coverage and even has SPF 14!
So to break that down, it’s a bottle full of facial goodness that not only covers imperfections, but helps to improve them, while protecting your skin from the harsh UV rays that you may encounter!
May I just say that after almost 5 days of using the SuperStay Better Skin products, I am not disappointed! For the price, this product is fantastic! The only (somewhat) negative comment I can make about this product is that sometimes I accidentally dispense too much concealer just from holding the bottle, so honestly, if packaging is the only concern, I wouldn’t worry at all about the abilities of this product.
I am happy to say that I’ve found a economically priced foundation and concealer duo that actually works for me, and provides my skin with the coverage it needs! I can only imagine how great this product would be for people who don’t have as many skin problems as I do.
This product also claims to give you “better looking skin in 3 weeks” – Although i’ve only had it for almost a week, I can see that it actually does help my skin. The oil that I complained about earlier doesn’t build up when i’m wearing it, and i’ve noticed that it hasn’t aggravated my skin like a lot of other products do. I’ve also noticed that I can use this product without primer and the coverage lasts all day!
… To think I was going to spend $59 on a NARS foundation!
I will do a product update in 3 weeks to confirm whether the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin foundation and concealer really does give you better skin… I have very high hopes!
For now though, I do recommend this product to everyone who is in need of a great foundation for a great price!
So I haven’t really dabbled in the area of contouring until recently, when I went into Mecca Maxima and enquired about blush, and the makeup artist transformed me into a swan using the Bobbi Brown Nectar Blush, NARS Albatross Highlighter and NARS Laguna Bronzer. In a matter of 3 minutes my complexion looked so great and the shape of my face was well defined and flattering!
Unfortunately, these three incredible products are quite costly, so, as per usual, an obsession took over and I had to find a cheaper alternative!
To do so, I ventured into Priceline and spoke to one of the employees, who gave me honest advice regarding the products. She said that a highlighter isn’t necessary, it’s just something to emphasise certain areas of the face, but since we never needed it before, why do we need it now?
So she showed me to the Rimmel London Natural Bronzer, which would compliment my tone, but also the Maybelline Fit Me Blush which I purchased beforehand (Princeline were having a massive cosmetic sale!) The two together are great! Granted, the effect isn’t as prominent as it was with the NARS and Bobbi Brown products, but for now it’s just as good, especially for someone still learning to contour properly! To apply the Bronzer, I use a Real Techniques Contour Brush and I am still looking for a decently priced, quality blush brush (the brush that came with the blush was very rough on the skin and didn’t apply the product properly)
Then, as previously stated in my June Beauty Wishlist, I was very interested in purchasing either a Bobbi Brown or Gorgeous Cosmetics Gel Eyeliner, but yet again, at the moment, spending over $20 on an eyeliner is unjustifiable. Instead, I found my solution in a Maybelline Gel Eyeliner, which is retailed at $16.95 AUD, but I purchased at $15 at Priceline.
I also wanted to try lining my waterline to accentuate my eyes and give the illusion that they are bigger, and so I purchased the Essence Kajal eye pencil in 04 white. At the inexpensive cost of $2.00, I was surprised by the quality and the easy, smooth application, especially for the price!
Finally, my favourite beauty tool that I have bought is the NARS pencil sharpener! My mum purchased a Manicare sharpener a few weeks before I purchased the NARS one, and I just wasn’t sold. The NARS sharpener is so perfect! I never thought I would love a pencil sharpener! It is a dual sharpener, so it can sharpen different sized pencils, and a cute little pick that you can use when you open up the little removable compartment that catches the shavings so you can clean the blades! I went crazy sharpening all of my cosmetic pencils and was so surprised at how with two turns, you get a fully sharpened pencil with no faults!
Also, because Mecca is so lovely, I was given a sample pot of the Too Faced Primer which is quite good, but I prefer my MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime Primer.
These few little products have changed how I apply and think of makeup. It can do a lot more than conceal, and emphasise, but also shapes and contours, and it’s so easy to do!
Let me know in the comments section whether you would like to see a tutorial on contouring or know more about my updated makeup routine!
When I first immersed myself in the glittering world of makeup, I said to myself that I would only use “the best” of brands and products. At the time, I mostly saw makeup as a time consuming burden… I had just turned 16 and was never a massive fan of painting my face.
On my 16th birthday, I decided that I would use my birthday and christmas money to go on a shopping spree, and I had a long list prepared, and at the time, American Apparel Disco Pants were #1, but #2 and #3 were the basics of every girl’s makeup collection: Foundation and a classic red lipstick.
I chose M.A.C Cosmetics Studio Fix Fluid in NC25 and Chanel Rogue Allure Lip Colour in 104 Passion. At the time, the foundation cost $49 AUD and the lipstick cost another $50. I’m about to state the obvious, but that came to a total of $99, not mentioning the extra $10 I had to spend on a foundation pump that the foundation didn’t come with. At the time, I felt like I was ballin’ because not only was I working most days of the week (during summer holidays) but my birthday and christmas fall within 13 days of each other, so $110(ish) didn’t seem like a lot.
Now days though, I definitely do not have the luxury to spend $49 on a foundation, but I ran out and desperately needed a replacement, and all I could spare was a very minimal $15. I felt like I was going from Tiffany’s to Target, but instead, I went from M.A.C to Rimmel… and I liked it.
Thanks to a friend’s recommendation, I tried the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation in 200 Soft Beige and found that I got a good coverage, no irritation and a natural looking shade! The foundation applied easily, was smooth and was long lasting. I must admit that I was very impressed; I bought a $15 foundation and was happy with it?
It was like the cosmetic gods were looking down on me, and graced me with a quality foundation for an affordable price!
One thing that I did notice, however, was that the Rimmel London Foundation required more than one pump and did make my skin become oily in the T-Zone. This isn’t much of a problem, as throughout the day my skin felt smooth and comfortable, and the oiliness would go away with some concealer or primer underneath. I also noticed that I didn’t need to use primer with this foundation.
A few weeks later I also purchased the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer which visibly helped my skin with a regard to coverage. I don’t have the best skin, so finding a concealer that actually works isn’t that easy, but with Rimmel Wake Me Up, I was pleasantly surprised. At the RRP of $14.95, I purchased it for $12 at Priceline.
So, Inside my pretty pink makeup bag (which over time has become fuller and fuller due to a small obsession with cosmetics, specifically lipstick) is Rimmel London’s Wake Me Up Foundation and Concealer and I couldn’t be happier with the quality for the price!
If forced to choose between the two; M.A.C. Cosmetics would hands-down be the brand that I choose
Christmas is only 10 weeks away, and so, I thought I would get a head start on my christmas wishlist!
These items I have been absolutely drooling over for months now, and one way or another, I will get my hands on them!
Dear Mum (or Santa, you choose who you want to be):
For Christmas this year I would like:
- Boyfriend Jeans
- Black leather jacket
- Denim jacket
- Black Skort (Zara)
- White Skort (Zara)
- Platforms (Windsor Smith)
- Nude patent heels
- Black Fedora
- Sunglasses (as similar as possible to the style in the photo)
- M.A.C Cosmetics Lipstick (Colour: Pure Zen)
Don’t think that I am expecting to get all ten items. This is just something to choose from. Happy Shopping Mummy! 😉 xxxx
I am only joking, my dear readers!… I am not that selfish, materialistic or acquisitive!
Plus, Christmas is about much, much more. If you are not a religious person, Christmas is a time to spend with family, friends and people who you hold near and dear. I love having my (extremely large) family come together. It is the one time throughout the year that every single member of the family is together. It is a season of happiness, forgiveness and gratefulness… A time to reminisce in the past and make memories to speak about in the future.
