January // Beauty Haul

So, can a mascara actually be better than sex?

As far as I’m concerned, January is primarily all about me, mostly because I celebrate my birthday (also known as Annual Daniela Day) and the festivities usually last a good two weeks.

Due to this, I have been indulging in some seriously lush things, like cosmetics, accessories, staple wardrobe pieces, and gifts.

So, to welcome in February, I’d like to introduce you to my new favourite things

First off, we have the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. Now, does it live up to the hype?

Hell yes.

I haven’t always been too fussed about mascara, mostly because I think most mascaras I have tried worked well enough. Since using Better Than Sex, I’ve realised that I should have taken mascara much more seriously, because my lashes look bomb af now. It’s like when you realise that good enough isn’t actually good enough and that you shouldn’t settle for anything less than the amazingness that you deserve. Appropriately named, Too Faced’s Better Than Sex mascara is easily the best mascara I have ever tried.

Secondly, as you all may know, red lips are sort of my thing. On my 16th birthday, I bought myself my first lipstick, Chanel’s Rouge Allure in 104 Passion. My personal belief is that without a good lip liner, your lipstick means nothing, therefore when my blogger bud, Roula from Rouls Of Fashion bought me this NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in the shade Mysterious Red, there was no where to go but up.

The red lip game was on.

More than that though, I noticed that with this, I didn’t need a lipstick. I actually use this on its own and it lasted the whole day (I wore it on a 12 hour work day) and it didn’t smudge or fade. I only had to re-apply after devouring my lunch, and even then it was still pretty much perfect.

Girl your contour on point

The same babe of a friend who blessed my makeup collection with the Better Than Sex mascara also gave me this amazing highlighter. This is the Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminising Wand. I thought I knew a good highlighter. I thought I knew what I was capable of when I was contouring. I was wrong.

This highlighter “actually lights up like a soul” and my cheekbones are now at Maleficent’s standard (minus the prosthetics and Angelina Jolie’s unfair genetics)

I have been dying to try a gold toned cream highlighter, and even though I’ve been using my pink undertoned MAC Cream Colour Base as a highlighter/blush, this illuminiser is perfect for the summer months when I want a flawless no makeup-makeup look.

LUSH Cosmetics LOVE AND LIGHT hand cream

I’ve also never been one to religiously use hand cream, mostly because I don’t see a point for it. I was given a LUSH gift box as a gift and inside it was this hand cream, and the whole ‘new year, new me’ thing kicked into motion and I thought “I will bring hand cream around with me… just in case”

By surprise, the habit of applying hand cream stuck, and not only are my hands chap free (I barely noticed they were dry earlier) but they always smell really, really good.

Unfortunately though, this product was only available for a limited edition!

LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub

New diet hack: when you feel like something sweet, substitute it for LUSH’s Bubblegum lip scrub!

No, don’t do that.

For real though, this lip scrub works so well. The concept is very simple and I don’t think lip scrubbing is much of an art, but shit it makes your lips feel good. The taste isn’t sickly sweet and to be honest, I use so much at a time because I literally enjoy stripping my lips of dry skin and eating the residue (I know, it sounds gross but you have to try it)

Glasshouse Fragrances 350g Tahaa candle (vanilla caramel)

Have you ever read the book Perfume: The Story Of A Murderer? For those who have, I want you to know that every time I light this candle, and more so, every time I walk past it, pick it up and inhale its caramel goodness, I can actually understand how Grenouille killed people for their scent…

That’s a huge over reaction, but it perfectly describes how amazing the scent is, and realistically I wouldn’t kill for this scent, but I do really really love it.

PS if you don’t know much about Perfume, I suggest you look into it; it’s creepy but it’s beautifully written and weirdly satisfying.

I’m sorry for going off on a bit of a tangent there, but really, you guys have to try these products. I love them and really think that you need to add them to your routines this year if they aren’t already!

Also, I have so many things I want to share with you guys, like a massive LUSH haul and general January haul, so stay tuned!
